The Knit Geek

An exercise in odd craftiness…

The Fabric Fairy Fabric Boutique

Why oh why….?

Why is it that I can never have just one project? I now have 4 WIPs on needles in my bags….no, wait - 5. I am so tangled and scattered, I don’t know what to work on more! One project is briefly on hold as I wait for circular needles I had to order, due to the fact that the stores near me don’t seem to believe in 16-inch circulars. Luckily I got them on discount, so even with shipping, they will cost pretty much the same as full price at the local places. However, the other 4, well we have:

  • 1. A lighthouse dishcloth - only one of several pieces to redo my kitchen linens.
  • 2. The Lion Brand Homespun Hooded Knit Sweater (which is what I need the 16-inch circs for - I’m converting it to in the round, since my finishing abilities are a little ‘off’).
  • 3. The Picovoli T-shirt from MagKnits which is painstakingly long for me. These are the smallest needles I have ever used!
  • 4. Another skinny scarf - w00h00!
  • 5. And a self-made pattern for a sleeveless shell/t-shirt in Lion Brand Suede yarn. I couldn’t find a pattern I liked with the Lion Brand Suede, so I opted to create my own. We’ll see how that goes. I hear Lion Brand Suede is evil…

At least I find knitting enjoyable….most of the time! I really want to make a Mr. Bean Teddy Bear too, but that will have to wait a bit. :-)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That’s not a big UFO list - mine spans 10 pages! Variety is the spice of life, and sometimes you need a bit of a change to re-charge and learn to love a neglected project again. Project monogamy isn’t a *rule*…If you’re happy, who cares?

Lisa Says:

LOL! Well I feel sheepish! 10 pages, eh? Yikes! Well, the list doesn’t include all the patterns I have stacked in the “I want to make this soon” pile, but those aren’t anywhere near my needles yet!

I just imagine my little grandmother, with her *one* blanket on the crochet hook until it’s done. She won’t start anything else until one is finished. Bless her singular focus soul! I wish I could focus on one thing - anything!

Oh, you want a list of Things To Do Someday, too? LOL! I have quite a stash of patterns and supplies and stash. I was only counting the projects that have been started or are assembled into “kits.”

Does free really mean free???I recently found this free online auction site AuctionNitro.com. There are ABSOLUTEY 100% no fees to
list items, sell items or buy items! You can even feature, bold etc., at no cost as well and there is no
?gotcha? fine print. However, I found myself sending several emails asking over and over ?it is all free?
What?s the catch??FREE MEANS WHAT IT SAYS - FREE!!!It seems that the word free today carries so little real substance that it has to always have a catch to it.
-Does Free mean almost free?
-Does Free mean only if you subscribe and pay later?
-Does Free mean just for some people? When a product and/or service is advertising free, in my old fashioned mentality, it always means free!
Try it, Use it, Love it or leave it but don?t abuse it! Today it seems that talk has become so cheap that
what our country once stood for ?Free? is now just a passing phrase for marketers.
